Bennett Miller Company was organized in 1982 as a Texas Corporation for the purpose of restoring and redeveloping older industrial and commercial buildings for residential use. Bennett Miller, the Company’s founder, had served prior to that time as the Director of Urban Programs and non-academic administrator of Southern Methodist University’s school of liberal arts.

The Company first established offices at 711 Elm Street in Dallas’ West End District where its initial conversion, a parking garage to retail shops, was completed. Subsequently it moved to the Deep Ellum area, sharing offices with an architectural firm. In 1987 the company moved to the Cedars area of Dallas in one of its own project buildings.

The Bennett Miller Company converted 26 properties, including a grain mill, petroleum distribution center, meat processing plant, bottling plant, and numerous warehouses. In addition the Company has moved and restored a number of nineteenth century structures for Dallas Heritage Village, Dallas’s interactive historic village. Two of the Company’s developments are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Company has acted as owner-developer-manager, developer of condominium and rental projects, and as a general contractor for other property owners. In 1997 the Company built a twenty unit town home development known as Magnolia Hill. The project was the Company’s first, and until 2004, its only, new construction. Magnolia Hill received awards from, among others, the Dallas chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the City of Dallas, both Preservation Dallas and Preservation Texas, and The Dallas Business Journal.

In 2004 Bennett Miller Homes I, Ltd. was organized to develop affordable town homes built as urban row houses selling for $146,000 to $155,000. The homes contain approximately 1,400 square feet, and can convert from one bedroom with a multipurpose loft and one and a half baths, to three bedrooms and two and a half baths. Each home has a detached two car garage/carports. Click here to view our current townhomes for sale.
